Phew - it's got soooo hot. From the freezing conditions and a cool spring, summer has arrived with a vengeance. The last 5 days we have had 30 + degrees, thunderstorms and high humidity ( today was 95% humidity). It's like going from the refridgerator to Cairns!
Due to the weather and us travelling a lot we really haven't explored much around our area so today we set off to Collingwood ( Booo!) to some caves we had heard about. They are tucked into the Niagara Escarpment not far from the ski fields we used during winter. The caves were quite interesting and were formed during the ice age by glaciers. They are very significant to the Huron Indians who inhabit the area. We crossed the longest suspension bridge in Ontario and took in the magnificent views of Georgian Bay, it's hinterland, Lake Huron and the amazing development going on in the area. With the ski fields and Lake Huron, it's a year round tourist destination.
From there we checked out the beach ( mud flats) at the popular Wasaga Beach and then did a short hike at Walters Falls. The countryside is so green and lush.
