WE'VE ARRIVED

Well we finally arrived at our home for the next 12 months in Owen Sound after a 21 hour flight, overnight in chilly Toronto ( -13) and a 3 hour drive! The drive was quite easy, mostly freeway, though sections of route 26 hadn't been snow ploughed very well and were a little icy. It was quite a blast to drive through miles and miles of snow covered fields and farms . Also passed through several ski fields close to home which overlook Lakes Yuron. Can't wait to try them out.

Our home is very cute: double storey + basement and attic. There are lots of beds ( hint, hint)! Have settled in quite well and after a sleepless night and late sleep-in ( jet-lag) we spent some time at Tracy's school ( Sydenham Community School ) and then explored Owen Sound a little. The town has a population of 22,000 and seems to have all the facilities we need. Our first purchase was an ELECTRIC BLANKET ( whoever heard of not having one when it's -15!)

Off for drinks tonight with our new neighbours, Judy and Rob, who I'm sure will be able to give us lots more info about the area.
