Now this is different. Jim, his son Andrew, a mate Chad and I headed to Arran Lake for a spot of ice fishing. When we arrived there were a few guys out on the ice but only one was soft enough to have his own ice hut ( see pic) It's on skis so he can drag it wherever he wants to, He can even position it over the hole, light a fire etc.
To start you use a hand auger to drill a hole about 8 inches across through the ice, scoop out the float bits of ice, drop in your line ( with a worm on it) and away you go. You can drill lots of holes if you want or just keep a couple. We redrilled a few that were drilled on the weekend by other anglers. I don't know what happens if you actually catch a fish bigger than the hole!
Amazingly, it wasn't too cold ( I had on every piece of clothing I have here ). The boys even lay down on the ice for a snooze ( pic). You also don't have to worry about the fish spoiling, you just drop it on the ice. we had a lot of fun, catching lots of small perch which Jim took home for dinner.

Hi Tracy and John
Great to hear that you are having so much fun. It is hard to believe that it is so hot here and that you can be Ice Fishing and Skiing...{nice air, by the way, John!!!) School sounds great Trac.
I hope the staff are treating you well...
Have had our first day today and it was very productive. Sue and I are very unorganised!!!! Should make for an interesting start...
Just got back from Pambula on Sat. Had a fantastic trip. Jaimee got a surfboard for Chrissy, so surfed a lot. She just loves it. Trev returned to work today, now wanting to know how long it is till Easter... Mad is very excited about starting school tomorrow. She just loves it. I hope our Grade6s are as excited, although I doubt it.
I am going along well. Actually have hair now so Sara( the wig) has been put in a bag and shelved. Hopefully never to be needed again.
Take care
Rhonda
