You might be wondering what this word is. I was confused myself especially when the principal called a special assembly to discuss Schlockey rules. When I was out on yard duty I expected to see this great hockey type game going on but it is actually all played within the confines of a box. On the tarmac they have 3 boxes and the children use cut off hockey sticks and a puck. There are holes at either end of the box and in the middle. The aim is to put the puck through the hole at your end.The children are all lined up and the winner gets to stay on and the loser goes to the end.
Today was amazing because I had heard that it is quite common to have snow days. I considered that if they call snow days then it means it is snowing too hard for the buses to get the children to school( 95% of the children come by bus). You have to listen to the local radio to hear whether it is a snow day. This morning I woke to a sunny morning and the snow melting as it was 6 degrees. Dianne had to pick me up as John had gone fishing again!!! I hopped in the car and she told me it was a snow day. I said but there is hardly any snow but apparently with it melting so quickly the back roads become too icy and the buses think it is too dangerous. Consequently I had 9 children at school so for part of the morning we went out and played Schlockey. It is a great time to do planning as we put 3 grades together and time released each other.
