Lions Head National Park

We headed up the Bruce Peninsula to the sleepy little village of Lions Head, where we had a nice lunch before returning to hike a part of the Bruce Trail that we had visited in winter for our first snowshoe adventure. The change was amazing as you can see from the pics. It is just beautiful. We walked through sun dappled woods past "potholes" left by glacial action during the last ice age, across grassy meadows and climbed up ( and down) the Niagara Escarpment which runs from Niagara Falls all the way to Tobermorry. The Bruce Trail is a hiking trail that follows the escarpment (about 700 km). We emerged at several lookouts which gave us fantastic views over Lions Head and Georgian Bay ( part of Lake Huron). We continually marvel that this massive body of water is fresh and is only one of the 5 great lakes. It's a pity we couldn't build a pipeline to Australia!
